Sonia is a visual artist and analogue photographer whose practice explores intimacy, identity, and memory through processes of obscuring and revealing.
After working in Rome and Berlin in the field of special effects makeup for cinema and television, she returned to Southern Italy, where she develops a visual language that reworks traditional photographic techniques, drawing inspiration from historical avant-gardes, cinema, and literature, with a particular focus on the materiality of the medium and experimental processes applied to film.
She studied Arts and Performance Studies and holds a Master’s degree, with a thesis focused on the philosophy of photography.
